Advanced Kindergarten Academic Programs Included
By the end of their time as Wallabies, students master critical language arts, advanced mathematics, and fine motor precision. Our core pillars focus on Language, Literacy, Mathematics, Science, Geography, and the Community through proven early-education frameworks:
Jolly Phonics Program
There are 40+ distinct sounds in the English language. Through interactive storylines, kinetic actions, songs, and targeting worksheets, Jolly Phonics explicitly teaches the letter-sound relationships first. By mastering these acoustic building blocks before introducing books, our senior students naturally learn to decode and read fluently within just a few months.
Magic 100 Words Program
The Magic 100 Words make up over one-half of all written and reading text. This specialized program explicitly trains children to instantly recognize high-frequency sight words โ especially those with dual meanings or irregular phonetic rules that cannot easily be sounded out (such as here/hear or red/read). Students achieve milestone certificates as they progress, building immense reading confidence.
Advanced Mathematics & STEM
Senior Wallaby students move beyond simple counting into abstract mathematical logic. Our daily targeted math blocks give children concrete experiences with addition, subtraction, categorization, and classification systems, ensuring they excel at early elementary STEM benchmarks.

Frequently Asked Questions
Questions Barrie parents ask before they book a tour.
How does the Wallaby classroom prepare children for Grade 1?
Our Wallaby room focuses heavily on reading, math, and independent social skills. By combining specialized programs like Jolly Phonics and Magic 100 Words with hands-on addition, subtraction, and sciences, our graduates frequently transition to local Barrie elementary schools far ahead of standard curriculum expectations.
Are you part of CWELCC ($10/day daycare)?
Koalaroo is not currently a CWELCC participant. CWELCC-funded centres in Barrie have waitlists of 2+ years. We focus on offering high-quality care now, with the support of federal and provincial childcare tax credits that recover 20โ50% of fees for most families at tax time.
What does kindergarten preschool cost for the Wallaby class?
Monthly fees range from $685 for part-time (Tuesdays and Thursdays), $960 for part-time (Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays), to $1,435 for full 5-day attendance.
Do you offer part-time preschool options for older kids?
Yes. Our classroom structure gives us academic flexibility that rigid daycares lack. Available part-time tracks for our kindergarten prep program include 2 days per week (Tuesday/Thursday) and 3 days per week (Monday/Wednesday/Friday).
What's included in the food program?
A morning snack, a hot lunch, and an afternoon snack โ freshly prepared by Koalaroo Catering and delivered to the preschool. Menus are globally inspired and rotate weekly. Allergies and dietary restrictions are fully accommodated. Food is included in the monthly fee.
How does the summer program work?
Summer Camp runs from July 6 to August 27, 2026, across 8 themed weeks. You book the weeks you need, one at a time, and pay only for those weeks. Weekly rates run from $285 (short weeks for current Koalaroo families) up to $385 (full weeks for non-enrolled families). Open to all children in Barrie aged 12 months (early walkers) to 6 years. Lunches and snacks are included.
What ages do you serve?
Children aged 12 months (early walkers) / 18 months to 6 years, across three dedicated rooms:
- Possums: 12/18 months โ 2.5 years
- Joeys: 2.5 โ 3.8 years
- Wallabies: 3.8 โ 6 years
Many families stay with us through all three stages!
Where are you located?
Koalaroo is located at 28 Commerce Park Drive, Barrie, Ontario, L4N 8W8. We proudly serve families from Barrie and surrounding Simcoe County communities.
Can I book a tour?
Yes, and we highly recommend it! Tours take about 30 minutes. You'll meet Annie Meechan (the owner), see the classrooms, the kitchen, and our three outdoor play spaces, with plenty of time to ask questions specific to your child.
